Although travelling on your own has its drawbacks Camiseta Personalizada Real Madrid , more and more people have been joining the idea of solo traveling. It is not really surprising considering the efficiency and mobility of touring by oneself.

If you are travelling in solitary, you just have to be aware of your own comfort, well-being and security. In summary, you don’t have to concern yourself about anyone but you. However, if you do try going on the road by yourself, you have to be ready for some bouts of loneliness.

Years ago, I’d been traveling on my own too. Just the road, my pack and me. It was pleasant but it can be really lonely when you’ve been spending day after day with no one to talk to but yourself. Once the originality of the experience wears off, which is usually after a day or two, the longing for a good communication and social contact will catch you unaware.

Eating in a cafe will start to feel a little awkward especially when you are sitting alone on a table surrounded by groups of people enjoying themselves. A few more of those times and you’ll give in to the irresistible force of hearing a familiar voice. Then you’ll find yourself phoning long distance to your loved ones and friends back home and telling them many stories of how much you are enjoying yourself. Believe me, it can quickly cost you lots of money if you give in to it.

What you can do alternatively is to apply some way to enjoy yourself with people you don’t know. If you feel the need for a good chat, then find someone to chat with in small talk. What I find most effective in drawing others in for a conversation is a big candid smile and a question of interest that’ll make them chat about their home town, themselves, their kids or their animals.

If you like animals, visit a park where dog owners go for a walk. If you find anyone of interest, approach them and commence a chat about their dogs. You may just get an interesting discourse and an opportunity to play with their dog(s).

Restaurants frequented by local residents are also a great place for social contact. Talk to the waitresses and guests. Question them about local dishes and their suggestions. Order some of the suggestions and share with them the likes or differences with your home favorites. You just might get invited to their table and have a wonderful time.

That reminds me of a likable couple I met in a small town in Italy who invited me to join them at a trattoria at the other side of the town. The food was adorable and the owners were more than happy to entertain me with humorous stories and treat me to a number of bottles of local wine.

You may not know it yet but simply saying hi and hello to residents (especially in their language) is a strong ice breaker. If they hear that obvious accent of yours, they may engage in an entertaining and fun discussion about their town and help you to discover local treasures unknown to most travelers.

All it takes is a real smile and a showing of interest in the place you are visiting. So, next time you are on the road, be a little companionable and you’ll be amazed as to how many smiles and acquaintances you will make in return.

However, don’t get too carried away, you still have to remember that you are throwing caution to the wind in order to avoid falling into tourist scams and traps so combine your mingling with suitable forethought.
